UNDERSTANDING, USING & REGULATING:

Tech.

Labour Digital is the home of digital and technology policy for Labour Party members and supporters. We seek to understand the potential of technology for our country, to promote using it in our economy and our public services and to advocate regulating its use to protect citizens from unethical use.

Our Mission

We believe in the power of technology to transform our world. But as Labour Digital, we also seek to understand and regulate the negatives: from anti-competitive tech giants and threats to privacy to making sure wealth is fairly distributed and workers aren’t left unemployed due to the changing nature of work.

Our Impact

Labour Digital exists to help Labour politicians understand the potential of technology. In doing so, we aim to have an impact on the policies put forward by the Labour Party in the United Kingdom. We do this by providing training to members of the Parliamentary Labour Party through lunch and learn and hosted dinner events, by producing thought leadership and policy papers, by sharing our podcasts and by hosting competitions to aggregate the best ideas on the left of politics.

Our Work

LUNCH AND LEARN / DINNER EVENTS

We organise and host lunch and dinner events to provide a learning opportunity for members of the Parliamentary Labour Party. We work with partners from NGOs and civil liberties groups through to technology companies and academics.

Networking

We bring together members and supporters across the Labour movement with an interest in digital and technology, to hear from speakers about the latest topics of interest and to learn from each other.

thought leadership / policy papers

We produce our own thought leadership papers and respond to events through the publication of policy papers. We host roundtable events with experts, collect and review evidence and suggest policies for the Labour Party to adopt.

Partnership working

We work in partnerships with other organisations and groups within and outside of the Labour movement at events such as Labour Party conference and other events throughout the year.

Technology is at the heart of every single policy area: from housing to wages to our public services to solving climate change. We have to embrace it, but we must also understand it and prevent the harm it could cause to our citizens.
