Labour Digital Membership

By becoming a Labour Digital member you are joining the largest Labour-aligned group with a mission to collaborate, create and promote progressive tech policy.

Labour Digital members are invited to engage in regular tech policy events, social and networking opportunities, and have the ability to stand and vote for committee positions. There are also a number of appointed and other voluntary roles members are encouraged to be involved in. Upon joining, you can also sign up for our members-only newsletter.

To become a member, you must agree to the below principles.

  1. Sharing the same values as the Labour Party - Membership is exclusively open to people whose values align with the Labour Party, by either being a Labour member or a supporter. We do not accept members who actively campaign for other political parties. Upon sign-up, we will request a Labour Party membership number and/or links to your social channels.

  2. Collaborating towards progressive tech policymaking - Members are expected to have an interest in tech policy. This can be from working in the sector or policy area, or via a general interest in the topic. In addition, we expect members to be champions of progressive tech policy, e.g. to be open to working collaboratively, wanting to understand the potential of technology for our country, to promote using it in our economy and our public services and to advocate regulating its use to protect citizens from unethical use, while constantly seeking to drive benefits across society.

  3. Signing up to our diversity charter - All our activities engage diverse representation and are as inclusive as possible of the UK population in terms of all protected characteristics, representation from across the UK, and in the types of stakeholders involved including representatives from companies of all sizes, academics and experts, and civil society. By becoming a Labour Digital member you are agreeing to conduct yourself appropriately and follow the Labour Party’s Codes of conduct and welfare which Labour Digital follows at our events and activities. This includes acting in a respectful manner. Anyone found violating this will have their membership revoked.

  4. Agreeing to our good behavior clause - Labour Digital is a convening organisation and, as such, does not take fixed positions on policy. We seek to encourage a respectful forum for policy discussion. Members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with that aim and to not misrepresent Labour Digital. Membership can be revoked where members are found in violation of this.

  5. Updating your contact details for regular engagement - Members agree to be regularly contacted by the Labour Digital committee and for their details to be held for such purposes. If your details change, please notify Labour Digital.
